Concrete Scan at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) on Civic Center Blvd in Philadelphia, PA

Project Description:
This project was done in Philadelphia for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), Pennsylvania. 3D grid scans were performed, collected and recorded around various parts of the hospitals (both finished/in-use and under construction.) The GSSI concrete scanner/GPR was the primary tool for the proposed plans for coring new conduits to modernize and revamp the facility.
Appropriate PPE must be worn for certain “sterile” and “sanitized” sections of the hospital. This is a common practice for our technicians to adapt to any work environment.
The primary focus was to mark out detected electric conduits, structural reinforcements, as well as any other wiring systems in the concrete slabs and different floors of the hospital (called a riser), for their proposed cores and installation. In this case, we want to ensure that we prevent any damages from being done to utilities currently in use. For this process, we use RF (radio frequency) pipe and cable locating tools (the RD8000).
